Plot: Numerous New York City-dwellers come to the exclusive club Shortbus to work out problems in their sexual relationships. Rob and Sophia are a happily married couple, except for the fact that she has never experienced sexual climax. This irony follows her to work, because she is a couples counselor who frequently has to deal with the sexual issues other couples have. Two of her patients are Jamie and James, a gay couple who have been monogamous for five years and counting. James wants to bring other men in to the relationship, and his own history with depression may hint at an ulterior motive. Ceth (Pronounced like Seth) may be the perfect addition to their family, but Caleb, a voyeur from across the street, may have his own ideas about that. Sophia visits Severin, a dominatrix with secrets of her own to reveal.

Any movie suggestions?
Now, I’ve seen a LOT of movies, but I just started building my home collection, this is what it includes…
Alice in Wonderland (disney), Clockwork Orange, Harold & Maude, Hedwig & the Angry Inch, I <3 Huckabees, Lock Stock & 3 Smoking Barrels, 5th Element, The Professional, My Neighbor Totoro, Paprika, Ponyo on a Cliff, Princess Mononoke, Rushmore, Shortbus, Snatch, Spirited Away, Trainspotting, and Valley Girl.

So, given those movies as a basis, any suggestions?
(I like movies that make you think)
I like indie stuff a lot, and old films. Sean Connery is the only bond, and I really despise most new movies such as pirates of the Caribbean and *shudder* the spiderman movies.

You need need need the Notebook. Best movie ever.
Kara24 | Aug 16, 2009

Fight Club! It is one of the best movie! But I suggest you to read the book first, don’t worry, it’s not those big books.
Brad Pitt is in it.
Edward Nortan is in it.
Helena Bonham Carter is in it.
All three of them are amazing.
hard candy is an incredible movie, requim for a dream is really mindblowing, horton hears a who! which is a hilarious and really cute movie, talk to her which is in spanish but really intersting, mmm the cell which is really trippy, apocalypto directed by mel gibson,

i can’t really think of any other movies right now but yea i recommend those.
Your A Bad Cat Man | Aug 16, 2009

National Treasure and National Treasure: Book of Secrets are two really good movies which require a lot of thinking hehe… I personally like the first one better but they’re both good. =)

Some older movies such as North by Northwest, The Man Who Knew Too Much, Rear Window… and others by Alfred Hitchcock are really great….
Abigail | Aug 16, 2009

American History X, Requiem for a Dream, Little Miss Sunshine, The Shawshank Redemption
yours truly | Aug 16, 2009

 The Good Girl
Breakfast Club
Sweeney Todd
Donnie Darko
Brokeback Mountain

I quite like these films
Phil, a married high school teacher, has the same maturity level as his students when he’s with his pals. Stu, a dentist, is worried about everything, especially what his controlling girlfriend Melissa thinks. Because she disapproves of traditional male bonding rituals, Phil has to lie to her about the stag, he telling her that they are going on a wine tasting tour in the Napa Valley. Regardless, he intends on eventually marrying her, against the advice and wishes of his friends. And Alan seems to be unaware of what are considered the social graces of the western world. The morning after their arrival in Las Vegas, they awaken in their hotel suite each with the worst hangover. None remembers what happened in the past twelve or so hours. The suite is in shambles. And certain things are in the suite that shouldn’t be, and certain things that should be in the suite are missing. Probably the most important in the latter category is Doug. As Phil, Stu and Alan try to find Doug using only what little pieces of information they have at hand, they go on a journey of discovery of how certain things got into the suite and what happened to the missing items. However they are on a race for time as if they can’t find Doug in the next few hours, they are going to have to explain to Tracy why they are not yet back in Los Angeles. And even worse, they may not find Doug at all before the wedding.

Hangovers are caused by a lessening of oxygen in the bloodstream, causing a massive brain ache in the morning. When you drink, your body does not monitor itself correctly, meaning you take less breaths per minute. Probably, your body has found a way to regulate breathing even when you are drunk. Congratulations, mutant!
I’m the same way. As far as I am aware hangovers are caused by dehydration so I guess you’re not getting dehydrated enough to develop one. At least that’s what I always figured for why I never get hangovers.
hey! i’ve recently downloaded an avi. file that opens in VLC media player, but then i was watching something else from my windows media player and then exited VLC media player and also cleared the download from the firefox download tray. I am afraid it’s too late. If you need to keep the file, you should save it on disk then open it using your player. Otherwise, the file will be opened in a temporary folder, and destroyed asap.In the first case, your file should be in the downloads folder as it is configured in firefox (by default it’s My Documents/Downloads..)

Why has our society become so Cold, in terms of Abortion?
Earlier today I posted a question about my possible persuasion from pro-choice abortion to pro-life after a discussion in my philosophy class. I, myself, have a child. When I first discovered I was pregnant I did ponder abortion but concluded that me, personally, could not pull the trigger (metaphorically). I got responses to my question that were informative others were extremely biased but all around I gained a lot of insight.

My question though is, why our society is so cold when it comes to an issue such as this. I had arguments with people saying that "legally" the child growing inside a woman has no legal rights at that moment, thus it is not a human. Yet, when a pregnant woman is murdered the killer is tried for two deaths the mother and the child….. So it has legal standing as a human when killed (i’m using it loosely) by someone other than it’s mother.

Another argument that has come across is that people say that the child inside a woman is not a "baby" but a fetus and therefore not human. I believe this is just word play so women who do seek abortion can sleep easier at night but I try my best not to judge. Personally I would rather a woman have an abortion in a clinic than in an alley with a coat hanger.

When I was pregnant my doctor not once refered to my son as a fetus and neither did I, we both always called my son the baby. "Is the baby Ok?", "Your baby is fine Bonnie." Neither did my fiance (my son’s father). I’m not here to push my ideal on anyone, I was once a pro-choice feminsit but now I am simply considering the other side. I find that out world contradicts itself and that people do indeed look for ways to mentally reassure themselves of something. Anyway, what do you guys think?

I’m a senior Women’s Studies major, I once thought I had a firm standing on this issue but now… I’m not so sure.
I find it entertaining to read you pick fun at my major, when I’m the one going off to law school next year, instead of answering the question. I’m assuming you have no insightful opinion on the matter……………. Typical hicks.

I personally don’t have a problem with killing human beings in acts of preservation. Compassion leads to more people, more people leads to less air for me.

(LOL WOMEN’S STUDIES MAJOR. Why didn’t you major in something useful?)

THE MAN: "After all…. its still legal in this country
for a woman to allow herself to get pregnant without a man’s consent"

You are twisted.
-

"100% of unwanted pregnancies
are 100% a woman’s fault — 100% of the time."

WTF WTF WTF RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGE
It’s take sperm and an egg to get a women pregnant. Two to tango. Two to play a game of chess. Two to make a baby. Unless a chick could get herself pregnant, it’s not 100%. So your there logic fails. Why do you say that the man as no responsibilty in birth control? 50 + 50 = 100. 50% man, 50% woman = 100% baby. Take responsibilty for your sperm, bro.

-

I am a chick. So you should argue with me, because I’m TOO STOOPID AND DUNT USE LOOOGIC.
Women Studies Major?

Major in something useful!
[motorstorm] | Feb 06, 2010

 1. I don’t see it as being ‘cold’ to support abortions. Women have been killing infants and fetuses they don’t want since human beings evolved. This is nothing new.
2. Nor is it new that religions want to control women and their fertility.
3. what is new in society is women as a group having a strong voice or even a ‘heard’ voice in issues that affect them directly. This is a good thing I think.
4. Fetus is the correct term for the developing being in a woman’s uterus. There is nothing wrong with using the correct medical term. And if you personally want to believe that a fetus or an embryo prior to viability deserves as much rights as the woman/creator if this fetus, that is your option. I however don’t agree to believe such a thing.
5. Whether a fetus or embryo is human is not the question for me. To me the question is Whose rights should take precedence, and for me that is ALWAYS the woman’s rights. Certainly I don’t feel good about a woman aborting a near term healthy fetus and I would wish that such a woman could be counseled to give early birth to a live fetus if it is near term and HEALTHY and normal.
NewDreams | Feb 06, 2010

Actually if a pregnant woman is murdered and killed the killer is only held accountable for the death of the woman… if the child is not born yet they do not consider it a viable human life that could survive on its own. sucks i know but that is the governments opinion. and did you see that sick link someone posted showing women not being sorry they had abortions! one woman on there got pregnant 8 times! and 7 of them she aborted! 1 was a miscarriage and only didn’t get aborted but only because it died first! tooo many women are heartless and uncaring people!

Maya Reigh! thats the site i am talking about! and yes everuy woman on that site is a cold heartless woman!

I have been as respectful as is needed… if my opinion bites your ass so be it!
Your story with your child, while beautiful, is not everyone’s story.
Some women do not feel bonded to their pregnancy, for a variety of reasons. Personally I use birth control so I have not found myself in the situation. But if I did, the decision is between myself and my doctor and that’s about it.

I do not think that women typically abort because they are "cold" or unfeeling though. Some probably do, but many probably do it because they realize bringing a little person into the world is a very big deal and it’s one, for whatever reason, they aren’t willing or prepared to do.

edit. to whomever is above me, she asked for a discussion. I was respectful – the least you can do is be respectful as well.

I’ve always had the same beliefs about abortion, I just identified with a different title.

Even when I was pro-choice I didn’t believe that a woman should have an abortion at whim just because it was her "choice". I thought abortion should be reserved for tragic circumstances when abortion is the best bad thing in a terrible situation. So in that sense I’ve always believed that abortion was wrong and bad, but that sometimes it was necessary because the realities of life can be very cruel and far darker than even abortion. I started to become more pro-life when I started to interact with pro-choice people. I found many pro-choice people to be very callous and cold about abortion, almost like they were sociopaths when it came to the subject. No one is saying that a woman’s will/consent and her bodily rights don’t come into the argument, but they are not the only things that are considered. Many pro-choice people don’t want to consider anything except the "choice" and the "body" of the woman. It is very selfish to focus only on the woman’s "choice" and "body" when we are also talking about choosing life or death for the baby. Pro-choice people often talk about "choice" and "freedom" but they rarely speak about responsibility. Freedom and choices comes with responsibilities.
Bluebeard's Wife | Feb 07, 2010

You’re only looking at the issue from one side.

How about this: How can any human being possibly justify forcing a woman to carry an unwanted child to term against her will? How is this violation any different from rape? In both cases you are reducing a human being to nothing more than an object – in this case an ambulatory incubator.
Rose D | Feb 07, 2010

overall you did a good thing. I went to the imnotsorry website that was posted, and all I read was I wasn’t ready, I wasnt strong, one girl wrote how she had to actually be honest with her bf because the baby may not have even been his. All I saw was whores and weaklings. It takes strength and character to be a parent. Anybody can have kids and anybody can have abortions, and anybody can masturbate into a bunk sock, but too try and raise them and make all the sacrifices that’s a tough gig. You made a righteous choice.

Hey discipula-the feminists round here have likened the fetus to a parasitic clump of snot, just so you know.
Juggernaut239 | Feb 07, 2010

I’m Pro Choice. I wouldn’t get an abortion unless it was a medical necessity, I was raped and became pregnant because of the rape, or there were things wrong with the baby that I didn’t feel would be humane to let that baby be born. I’m Pro Choice because I think women have the right to decide who/when/where they will have sex. I’m Pro Choice because I think women have the right to decide when and with whom they will have a child. I’m Pro Choice because I think women have the right to decide NOT to get an abortion. I’m Pro Choice because I think women have the right to prevent pregnancy and have the right to obtain fertility treatments if they are having problems conceiving. I’m Pro Choice because I think women have the right to control any aspect of their reproduction, and their reproductive health. I’m Pro Choice because I believe people have the right to complete and comprehensive sexual education. I’m Pro Choice because I know this issue is about more than whether it is right or wrong to get an abortion.
littleviv2000 | Feb 07, 2010

Cold? Abortion isnt a pretty thing anyway you look at it but it needs to stay legal. Lets face it-if it was banned tons of women and teens would try to lose it another way and would likely either kill or severely hurt themselves. Plus you cant force someone who doesnt want be pregnant to carry out the pregnancy. Is it cold? Yes. Is it sad? Yes. But then so is life. Nothing is totally fair and all sugar and rainbows. People need to learn to get over it and worry about their own lives.

And if someone is planning on keeping their child it makes sense why others would consider it human and refer to it as such. There are plans for this child and emotions attached. If someone is going to abort it they likely dont feel too emotionally attached to it and so its called a fetus. An it. Not a human.
bitterfruit | Feb 07, 2010

I have yet to hear the idea that a fetus is not HUMAN. The idea that it is a BABY is disputed, since the definition is subjective. Regardless, our rights are objectively determined, not dependent on ambiguous terms.

You referred to the fetus as a baby because to you, it was. A woman facing an unplanned pregnancy would obviously not feel such endearment.

I have two children, which is largely why I’m pro-choice: I can’t imagine children being forced into the world, unwanted. I’ve also worked in social services, and been charged with caring for crack-addicted infants who scream in agony continuously. NO ONE SUFFERS FROM AN ABORTION.
Discipula de Devendra Banhart | Feb 07, 2010

"My question though is, why our society is so cold when it comes to an issue such as this"

I don’t think there is anything more cold than irresponsible and neglectful parents bringing a child into this world when it is not wanted. It’s idealistic to think that all children brought into this world are going to be loved and well cared for. The fact is not all of them are. Some suffer considerably at the hands of these so called ‘parents’ and have a miserable childhood and develop psychological problems later in life.

It’s very easy to become pregnant and give birth but being a parent is probably the most difficult job there is and not everyone is suitable for this role.
Samba Jo | Feb 07, 2010

First of all there are too many humans in the world as it is, and now to top it off there are few jobs and opportunities for the people that are already here. The worlds resources are dwindling and really there should be a cap on how many children people should have to begin with, but more along the lines of your question…

Women should have the right to do whatever they please in regards to breeding as the child is within them after all. If they want it fine, if not, that should always be fine too. The very fact that humans are still arguing over this nonsense proves what a moronic species we actually are.
M | Feb 07, 2010

You may or may not agree with this but here it goes . . .
Legally fetus’ aren’t counted until they are in the third trimester because by then they could survive outside of the womb. By the time a women is in the third trimester she has no doubt decided she wants to keep the pregnancy – third trimester abortions almost *never* happen.

Before the third trimester the pregnancy could still be aborted for a multitude of reasons and it cannot survive (not without extreme and morally ambiguous measures) outside the womb. Agree with it or not but this is the way it is legally decided whether or not to count the pregnancy as a double murder.

Example – Laci Peterson was seven and a half months pregnant, that’s why it’s a double homicide.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_of_L aci_Peterson

The constitutional right to choose abortion was a limited one. In the first trimester, the state had no power to restrict abortion; beginning with the second trimester, the state might regulate, but not prohibit, abortion; and in the third trimester, the state might prohibit abortion except when necessary for the mother’s life or health.
Suggested reading on embryology ^
This is what i had to read, you may find it interesting.

NOT a baby – it’s a blastocyst, a zygote, an embryo or a fetus. Why do people have a problem with medical terminology? To be a baby you must already be *born*. You don’t have to like it just accept that it’s a medical fact. My stillbirth at 5 1/2 months was, despite it’s appearances, was not a baby – it was still a fetus. Even I who felt like a mother to him and in my heart felt he was a baby, my intellect knows (and medical science) that it was a fetus.

A ‘mother’ is allowed to choose that because she alone knows if she can do an adequate job of it, she alone knows her own mental state, state of health, only she knows if she has or will have the monetary means to care for it, only she knows how it will effect her relationship, only she knows if another child will take away from her other children and only she knows if she will love it or resent it.

Added to all that it is her body, no woman in an incubator – forced motherhood is slavery!

~Pro-Choice Momma; Have had an abortion <no regrets> and I have a 13 month old daughter <no regrets>. I believe in protecting my daughter’s choice.

Abortion: There is a Consensus
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hsSQiazUv go

Ps –
People picked fun at my double major when I told them it was Women’s Studies and Biology but they didn’t laugh when I pulled it off and they aren’t laughing now that I am working on my Master’s.
Ignore the uneducated but try not to lord your knowledge over them, it pisses people off.

I'm attracted to this palestinian girl in my class!?
We are both seniors in a science class and I conviced my teacher to allow me to sit next to her for second semester. She is palistinian but was born in Florida, and my parents are Colombian and Chilean, and I was born in Florida as well. I know that she is religious because she wears pretty scarves over her hair, but it doesn’t cover her face. Her mother makes her wear it for school. Anyways, I know that there is an attraction felt by both of us to an extent, and are surrounding peers can see it as well. People keep telling me that nothing will eve happen between us because she is probably Muslim and religious and family honor… So on and so forth. She has also told me that If anybody associated asks me about her I’m supposed to say that I never talk to her and she is just a fellow student. What am I supposed to do and what should I know about her and her culture/rules/bounderies? Pls help!!!!! And I did this on my itouch so I apologize for crappy structure and punctuation.

You have to convert to Islam before her parents will even consider you as a candidate.
If she is Muslim, she can’t date you. You can’t even kiss her. You have to marry her before you can ever touch her basically. And even if you did marry her, you’d have to be Muslim too. A Muslim woman can’t marry a non-Muslim man. So, there’s no chance there.
Edwin | Feb 06, 2010

She probably doesn’t like you. You are a senior boy yet you’re still clueless about girls.
She seems to be really religious and unless you want her dad to beat her up, stay away from her. Nothing will happen unless you become a fanatical muslim like her or her family.
I think if you push this further, you’ll only get hurt and so will she. (Ahem, by her father)
KittiesBunnies | Feb 06, 2010

If you like her, talk to her. I say go for it. Who cares what other people think. Do what you feel is right. Ask her out, she’ll tell you if she can date you or not then.
sims2fanatic | Feb 06, 2010

 Hello,

I have some Palestinians as friends and am familiar with their customs. You can chat and get along with her in the cafeteria but I can assure you that if you are not a Muslim you can forget about dating her. Muslim girls, unlike the men are not allowed to ever marry a non Muslim man and I assume your family religion would be Roman Catholic. The reason for this is that the man is the head of the household according to the religion and he may thereby pressure or insist that the children not be brought up in the Islamic faith. The Catholics are real sticklers for having the kids raised Catholic as well. Now if you tell me that you couldn’t care less about religion and do not practice it, that is even far worse in their eyes.

Your only solution to win her and the family would be to eventually convert to Islam – no if, ands or buts about it.

Cheers,

What is the best leveling spec for a Warlock/Best end game spec?
I’m currently leveling as demo, but bc I’ve been utilizing the new dungeon finder my dps isn’t where it should be I’m just curious is bc demo is solid leveling spec for solo grinding, should i maybe go destro or affliction (currently lvl 55, with a few BoA items) . I’m also curious to know your preferences for endgame raiding specs it’s hard to know whats current after using wow-heroes it looks like some prefer affliction others dest. I’m looking for highest DPS, I’m not terribad so the complication of rotation/usage is irrelevant for endgame atm just looking for overall opinions Links to builds would be great thx in advance

the highest dps is with des i think demo is better for 1on 1 pvp

First, her husband of 13 years, Ian, tells her that he’s leaving her for a younger woman. Then, one thing leads to another, and pretty soon Ian finds himself held captive by an oddly cool Louise who explains that she won’t release him until he professes his love for her and commits to working on their marriage. And that’s when things REALLY start to go wrong. It’s like your jeans…wash and wear them out. Vince is running out of original characters and to be honest, I wish they could start making better characters. The best thing that could happen would be that Vince would start making matches gimmicky and focus on the damn matches!! It’s like the 80’s all over again. It’s like we need an Austin now or something but I hope Vince does not make another cheap imitation.
