Multiple questions put in one. //_^?
Okay, so I’ve been perfecting my story that some of you have probably answered a question to. If not, then I have a whole set of questions to ask. As some of you may know, I am an avid writer and plan to publish my work either during my high school senior year or in the beginning of my college life. Well, I’ve been stuck on a few things. Here are the questions:

1. My story is set in a fictional magical world in our world. There are magical creatures and places. I’ve been trying not to make it sound like Harry Potter, because that’s a magical world in a fictional world. Well, mine is different in a lot of ways. But, to be on the safe side, what conclusion should I come to to make sure that I am not interfering with copyright?

2. My main character is not the last of his family, but his parents are dead. He has grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins and everything else. Is having his parents dead sound a little like Harry Potter?

3. My character has to help save his world from a menace to his race. Both are dubbed ‘powerfuls’ because they have powers that are different from everyone else’s power. The menace has the power to protect himself from evil or let it in his boundary and wield darkness to ward off others. My main character has the power to wield light and gain an extraordinary amount of power to defend himself. They are opposite. Now, does that sound like a Harry/Voldemort story? If it does, how can I change it up?

4. My main character goes to an elite private magic school in which they teach multiple magical races. Does that sound like Hogwarts?

5. I was deciding on how many books I should have in the series. I have concluded on seven. Here’s my layout on why I chose seven. I chose it on my main character’s studies at his school:

Book One: Beginning Studies, Year One
Book Two: Beginning Studies, Year Two
Book Three: Intermediate Studies, Year One
Book Four: Intermediate Studies, Year Two
Book Five: Intermediate Studies, Year Three
Book Six: Intermediate Studies, Year Four
Book Seven: Advanced Studies, Ending Year

Now: Is having seven books like the Harry Potter series?

6. After answering these questions, how would you rate this series on a "Close to Harry Potter" scale, 1 being "not even close" and 10 being "very close"?

Harry Potter scale – 9

Sorry,it sounds very unoriginal :/
I only liked the part where the magical school teaches multiple magical races, otherwise, nothing seems new
